What is Forest Bathing

Forest bathing is a mindfulness practice rooted in the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-yoku, which translates to “forest bathing” or “absorbing the forest atmosphere.” It is the simple yet powerful act of immersing yourself in nature with all your senses, allowing the sights, sounds, scents, and textures of the forest to bring a sense of calm and presence. Unlike hiking, forest bathing is not about reaching a destination but about slowing down, wandering mindfully, and deepening your connection to the natural world. Research has shown that this practice can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve overall well-being, making it a gentle yet profound way to restore balance and clarity.
